Hope it chokes them.
I doubt it will, The Grauniad and their followers seem oblivious to anything like this. Probably blame it on Trump or Slavery.

Personally I would prefer it if the European countries flourished. It is not helpful to have a floundering set of countries on your doorstep.

Agreed. But they won't do that so long as they are members of the EU. In fact, so long as it exists, the EU will have a stifling effect not only on its members but also on many non-members as well.
aren't we its biggest trading partner....
To be fair, at least they've reported it. Anything that sticks in the craw of the Mail (for example) hasn't got a chance of appearing there.
What is the UK figure?

We may not have it as bad as other countries, but our country has been shut for the past 6 months. It is highly unlikely we have had much growth. We already know exports are down, and unemployment has risen (highest for 4 years). And we are £400billion more in debt thanks to Rishi.

So it might be a bit premature to crow about how badly our European neighbours are doing, until we have a clear picture of UK growth during the pandemic.

sunk: " And we are £400billion more in debt thanks to Rishi." - it's almost as if there has been some sort of crisis! PMSL sunk, is there nothing you won't turn into an anti British story?
just what i was thinking TTT, if the government hadn't spent the money to bail everyone out where the hell would we be.
Question Author
much worse off emmie, there was no choice but it doesn't stop the anti British cherry picking data to suite their stance.

suit!
so it would seem TTT. I think Rishi and the government did the right thing in the furlough scheme, and bailouts for business, even if it has cost a large fortune.
Rishi did the right thing given what was foisted on him.

Whether or not shutting down the country for this is another discussion.
as far as I can find, German GDP fell 6% last year, New Zealand's was down nearly 3%, and Taiwan's grew 3%, which is what happens when you have competent people in charge. Britain's was down 10%, so I'm not sure there's a lot to crow about there.
