Have just "chatted" to two different persons and got two different answers.
I pay into a plan that when I pay £2 a month for international calls - my calls from landline to landline America or Australia are only 6.25 a minute which is great. I have used that, however when it comes to ringing same person on American or Australian MOBILE - would that be more expensive. One said yes it is the same but can't remember what the earlier one said but it sounded more expensive.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Calls to mobiles abroad are usually charged at much higher rates than calls to landlines. Even Skype calls (over the internet) to landlines abroad are usually far higher for calls to mobiles than to landlines (and some 'inclusive packages' or 'cheap rate deals' for overseas calls only apply to calls to landlines, with calls to mobiles sometimes being excluded from such packages altogether).
The only way that we'll be able to find a definitive answer for you though is for you to tell us which landline phone provider you're with (e.g. BT or whoever).

The only BT calling plan that seems to match your description, Jennyjoan, is 'Friends and Family International', where you pay £2.11 per month for discounted calls overseas.
For calls to the USA, both landline & mobile calls are then charged at 6.27p per minute (plus a call set-up fee of 24.32p)
For calls to Australia, the charge is still 6.27p per minute to landlines but it's 37.62p per minute for calls to mobiles. (The set-up fee also applies).
