It is coming to a head in France. Micron ignored a similar "letter" from retired military personnel a few weeks ago. These were not disaffected grunts but high ranking former officers. This "communication" is a very real warning.

A lot of jocularity about this - but actually, underneath it is rather serious. There is a huge divide in France between the metropolitan and the profonde - this should sound familiar.

I don't know how many of you have attended a French 11/11 gathering in the countryside - but please believe me when I say that it it hugely important. We were delighted to be allowed to lay poppies alongside their tributes. There is a very deep attachment and honour given to earlier generations and their current representatives. I've forgotten how long ago I posted that Ms Le Pen could possibly win because the countryside was being ignored/let down/denigrated by the metropolitans.

That the Military dissent is important there.

I'm no fan, but Macron has done more than Boris to kerb Islamism; he has banned the Burka and made outspoken criticism of the cowardly attacks against the French people, and much to the chagrin of Erdogan (the hopeful, forthcoming sultan of Europe) he supported Samuel Paty the teacher who was beheaded, due to the lying by a schoolgirl , because he had 'showed images of the prophet' to his schoolchildren.
