OH has been having a free one week trial with super hearing aids. He is due to go back to them tomorrow to pay to keep them. He had decided to do this, but then this afternoon we had a phone call from the Cochlea implant team.
He was due to have this fitted 16 months ago but it was cancelled the day before the op. They are now saying they have opened the list and the first five have been admitted. He is on the list and quite high up. It could be about two months roughly before he will be admitted. I discussed the new hearing aids with them. He will not be able to use them once the implant has been fitted. They suggest he backs off from buying the new ones and uses his NHS ones until his appointment comes through. He has decided to do this, so this has saved him nearly £2500! For a change!

A change indeed, Caran! And good news for OH....
I had quite a bit of experience with children and these implants in the early days. They were wonderful..........x
My work was with children, Caran and some time ago but I recall being told that adults more often benefit immediately from an implant and very often can hear well when using a telephone when they couldn't with an aid.
Hope that's the same for your OH...x
