This depends on so many things. Whether you have dial-up or broadband, how many you're downloading from, how busy THEY are, how busy the internet in general is.
But as a rough guide I'd say a 3mb audio track - about 40 seconds on broadband and about 5-6 minutes on dial-up.
A movie - about 1-half to 2-half hours on broadband. On dial-up - forget it.
i use azureus, and it probably takes me 4 hours to download movies on a 1mb line, i do usually only download from those which have 15+ seeds tho. and my share ration is pretty high
Remeber the speed of a download in Bitorrent is directly related to the amount of seeders and leechers. If you have a popular file with a high amount of seeders and a low amount of leechers then you should get the file a lot quicker.
Thanks all! Have gone onto LimeWire and this seems a bit faster. What speed should my download rate be? Mine seems to be around the 35Kb/s mark. The more hosts the better on this site is that correct?
You hvaen;t said what your broadband speed is. Do you have a 1Mb line, 2Mb, etc.? Also if possible, it's good to know your upload speed too which is usually much lower.
For example, I'm currently on a 2Mb line, so I get the following approx. maximum speeds:
download: 230kbps
upload: 25kbps
You should probably be getting about 2000kbps download, and maybe 384kbps upload or so. Perhaps try it on a few different days because sometimes it can be unusually slow if there's a problem somewhere on the network.
