Whilst waiting in the drive thru at Mcdonalds today I remembered something I heard ages ago about fries being made from soya instead of potato like everyone thinks. Can't recall if it was supposed to be Mcdonalds or Burger King...any truth in this?

Could be what you are thinking is that several years ago Burger King changed their fries to ones made from rice.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah yes, possibly!

Do they still make fries that way?
Actually No.
I have worked for BK for 25 years and can assure you that the fries have always been made of pure potato. They are not re-constituted and have never been made of rice or soya.
The change in fries was adding a batter coating to make them crispier.
