If I was a paying xustomer, i would accept that over a one/two/three day event, not every artist is going to appeak to me, but I am sure there would be enough to make a ticket worth my while.
I also think that a major pleasure of festivals is a chance to see an artist you may not normally have paid to see, and get an idea if you like them or not.
Add to that the chances to see a large number of musicians whose work you are competely unfamliar with, and the entire experience starts to look like a really good use of your time and ticket fee.
