Is sound going through external speakers? if so are they working OK, have you checked volume controls on any programmes you may have been using to play music, have you been to control panel and checked volume on sound and audio devices.?

Has the PC got a little volume wheel anywhere? My laptop has one which enables me to turn up the volume. Does it play music with sound?
