know the above should be in tech - but anyhoo - it's a long time since I did a screenshot but recall like I hit the right button of mouse and screenshot (word) came up. I was able to click onto it but now when I hit right button no word/screenshot comes up. Is there anything else I can try

on other posts I read - there was mention of printscreen but when I press mine nothing again comes up

if you press the Print/PrtScrn button, it copies the screen you are on. Nothing appears to happen but it is in the paste buffer. Then open Ms-paint and press CTRL+V. The screen will be pasted into the MS-Paint window. Then you can trim as necessary.

Using the PrtScr button to obtain a screenshot is now a largely redundant method of doing so. Microsoft introduced the Snipping Tool in Windows 7 and 8 (which is far, far better). It's still there in Windows 10 but its official replacement is now Snip and Sketch. (I still use Snipping Tool though).

So which version of Windows have you got, Jennyjoan?

Hi Chris - think I'm on windows 8 - anyway - all I did was control A - that highlighted the page, Control C - to copy - then Control V - and that pasted.

Like I have been doing that method for years now - think I only used screenshot like once using the right hand button of the mouse but that option has disappeared.

If you're using Windows 8, here's how to have the Snipping Tool readily available when you next want it:

Press the Windows key and Q together, to bring up a list of all the apps on your computer.

Look for 'Snipping Tool' and RIGHT-click on it.

Look at the the bottom-left of the window for 'Pin to Taskbar' and click on it.

You'll then have a Snipping Tool icon on the Taskbar at the foot of your screen.

In future, when you want to capture all or part of your screen, simply click on that icon. You can then use your mouse to draw a rectangle around the area that you want to capture (by holding down the left mouse button as you do so). You can then save it by going to File > Save As. (Choose a name for your file and ensure that 'File type' is set to 'Jpeg'). Easy peasy!
