Can someone explain this to me because I just don't understand it.
Some people like to sit outside pubs and cafes and 'people watch' whilst enjoying their drinks.
Are they judging the people passing by, rating them out of 10 for fashion sense, chubbiness? Laughing at people who seem different?
I love to sit at a busy harbour watching the birds (feathered variety), the boats and those doing water sports. I could sit there for hours taking in the sights and sounds, so very different from my home. But watching strangers walking by? No.
I have always enjoyed "people watching" especially when I was working and on holiday. To see others going about their normal business and wonder what that might be. All part of the fun of being on holiday.
One could say that many on here p/w - see the poster and not necessarily the thread, then follow them around to see what they have to say. That enables us to make an opinion of the person, does it not?
I like to people watch to see how folk react with each other. Seeing (for eg) a couple holding hands makes me smile. Seeing kids playing brings me joy.
I love people watching although I know there are some who don't and why they don't people watch.
Our village is finally buzzing again after fifteen empty months. Dave and I are founder members of the committee formed to help our pubs recover from Covid so we've had to spend many hours in the village drinking Guinness.
The tourists are a joy to watch. Guessing where in Ireland they are from...okay car number plates help...if the engaged couple at the next table will be lucky enough to have red haired children. Are those two nuns not too hot in those outfits and is there gin in their lemonade.
People are fun and interesting to watch and sometimes the bit of eye contact and a smile can lead.....well anywhere you want.... :-)
You have no idea, Ael...when the message came that the fifth pub was opening yesterday we thought.....Oh Lord...can we do this? But of course we can! We must put the village first.... ;-)
