Whatsapp Photos Not Transferring To Google Photos

They are going into the Gallery in my Samsung Android phone but not to Google Photos on phone or iPad, and right hand blue back up in Photos is permanently going round. Also WhatsApp backup says In Progress but goes on forever. Not technical,so easy answers please all. Thank you.
