I’ve had an EBay and a PayPal account for 16 years and never ever had a problem. I buy 99% of the time on EBay and rarely sell. Well my MIL asked me to try and sell this expensive sofa chair for £150. So I listed it. I never thought it would sell but it did. Says sold on my account. Says arrange collection. But when I look there is no money in my account. So I’ve rang PayPal who were really helpful. They say my old bank card is on my account but it is correct account number so it should make no difference as is it is a purchase, and it also makes no sense as I bought something only last week. They said to ring EBay and see what the issue is but to NOT release item till I have the money.
So they gave me a phone number for EBay but when I ring it you can’t speak to an actual person - it just keeps diverting you to their help pages. Meanwhile I’ve checked my account again and beside this item it says that funds will be released the day after item is collected!? Is this a clever scam or has anyone heard of this?? It’s a £150 item so I don’t know what to do and she keeps messaging me...... and now she thinks I’ve got her money and am keeping it!
eBay will still ask for the money so you’re account should say say something like payer has paid
Go into the help section there is a huge amount of information on managed payment
Ohhhhh thank god for that! I didn’t realise they’d changed to managed payments. I’ve just managed to find a live chat on EBay and they’ve confirmed she’s payed! But yes as you all say you release the item first now and then they send the money. Well I never lol
/// when I ring it you can’t speak to an actual person - it just keeps diverting you to their help pages///
So many sites do that - it makes me bloody mad, because the scripted help questions rarely fit my circumstances. Then where you do get a real person number you get lumbered with hours of Muzak before someone actually answers. Grrrrrrrrr.
