Basic Bank Account

I am currently in the process of setting up a Debt Management Plan with the CCCS. I have been advised to open a basic bank account for direct debits etc and a cash card. I applied to CO-OP and have been turned down. Anyone know of a High Street Bank that would let me do this (not Nationwide or Abbey as they are two of my creditors!!)

i had a friend who had to do this and i`m sure she got one at lloyds tsb. ( i am not entirely sure though ).

I got a basic bank account via Natwest. I was made bankrupt last year and they still gave me an account. Ok you don't get a cheque book or overdraft but you get a solo card. I applied on line. It's called a step account.

Thanks everso much have actually just been online and applied for the Natwest Step Account which has been agreed in principle. Thanks

My partner and I got one from the Alliance and Leicester. We did it online, I don't know if you can still do it that way but it's worth a try!!

slightly off your problem, but are a part of your debt bank charge related, if so have you thought of claiming the last 6 years worth back

Listening to Martin Lewis a few months ago he was moaning that all banks have basic accounts but never advertise them because they rarely make money for them.
