graphics specs and compatibility
1 Answers
i bought command & conquer generals but it runs painfully slowly. the min spec (recommended in brackets) is 800 MHz (1.8), 128 MB RAM (256), 32 MB Direct 3D compatible video card (NVidia Geforce3 or higher), Direct X 8,1 with compatible soundcard. I have a HP Compaq nx9010 notebook with 2.6 MHz, 256 MB RAM, ATI Radeon IGP 345M, Conexant AMC Audio. I cannot work out whether the ATI display adapter is up to standard - how many MB is it and is t Direct 3D compatible? Same with the soundcard - is it DirectX 8.1 compatible? And howdo i find out what version of Direct X I'm running? Finally, any idea which of these components is causing the slow running?

I guess the ATI Radeon IGP 345M is designed for business applications rather than games. You can try increasing the video RAM in the BIOS, turning down the detail in the game settings and perhaps getting the latest ATI Radeon IGP 245M driver from www.ati.com You are running Windows XP which ships with DirectX 8.1 but to view it run dxdiag.exe which is found in c:\windows\system32 (here you can test the Direct 3D compatability)You can also update to DirectX 9
