My friend has a camper van that can sleep 4 but there are only seatbelts fitted in front for 2 people. What is the law on carrying 2 passengers in the back there are seats but no where to fit seat belts as there are windows all round. It is 20 years old only done 40,000 miles and in immaculate condition.Obviousily when it was made seatbelts were not law as it states to carry 2 +2 but don,t know how legal this is nowadays.Have asked police some say yes some say no so thats a lot of help.Need to have it in writing if legal. Thanks for any help.

Seats in the rear of a campervan/motorhome do not, at present, require seatbelts (whether forward, rearward or sideways facing) and it is not illegal to carry unrestrained passengers in them while travelling, providing the vehicle is not overloaded. It is not something we would recommend, however.
