Boris will be making an informed decision based on the data and advice available.

That will include the overly-cautious, and the realistic - sadly very few advisers appear to be able to avoid being one or the other.

In this case, scientists are there to analyse what is going on, develop scientific responses (vaccines etc.) and they are very good at that. Valuable information and a practical way out. I've never said less. They are a much appreciated and an essential part of society.

But they have strayed out of their remit and are now trying to rule the rest of us and control behaviour by scientific predictions. We are human beings, not things and units and we don't work or live scientifically. We are very unhappy and, frankly, inhuman if we do. Risk is part of life and human beings must be free to judge their own level of acceptable risk. I'm with Sajid.

I have, in honesty, to add that I could not access the link - but I've heard enough on radio and T.V. to know the difference of opinion.
