One of my favorite cover's was Madcons cover of Beggin by the Four seasons about 8-10 years ago. The original off course plus a dance remix of the Frankie Vallie version 10-12 years or so ago was also good
There's now another version getting air play and in the charts and I was so disappointed when hearing it. Just does'nt do the classic song any favours for me.

>>> Did that group appear in Eurovision?

They not only appeared, Tuvok, but won the competition (with an appalling song!).

Thanks all. yes I like generally like covers that put a new twist on a song such as mad world by Gary jules, but this was hard to listen to for me.

nope
Christ on a bike, I've never heard such a racket.
Talking of cover versions; I caught some of Patrick Kielty's Cover Versions on Radio 2 last month and there were some quite surprising inclusions. Songs i would never have known are actually covers. Girls Just Want To Have Fun, Twist And Shout, Dazed And Confused, Ring Of Fire, to name just a few.
Anyone feeling the need to end the word 'you' with 'wa' is best left to fade away.

Trying too hard, perhaps falling back on cheekbones and direct stares.
Sunk - // / I am not keen on young artists piggy-backing on the talents of other musicians, so i won;t be trying this, because I disliked the other cover version. //

Totally disagree with that. All music borrows from what went before. The Beatles and the Stones were great borrowers of US blues masters, and they went on to make lots of great original music. //

It's my view, and I could easily be mistaken, but when The Beatles and The Stones covered songs by other artists, the artists they covered were their heroes, and their music was completely unknown over here until The Beatles and The Stones drew attention to it.

That is a world away from taking a song that has already been a hit, adding absolutely nothing new whatsoever to its timeless hook and originality, putting a few sound effects on it, and passing it off as something original.

I have no issue with anyone being influenced by music they hear, as you point out, it's how musicians get started in their careers, but there is a big difference between being influenced, and simply riding a hit - and this song is riding a hit, badly.
Not keen on that version. Prefer the cover that was out a few years back.
