Copenhagen...Wher to stay?

Off to Copenhagen in Nov & dont know which part to stay or Hotel. I like 4* unusual type places. Near bars/restaurants & shops. Anybody been recently ? Cheers.

We went a couple of years back, and initially booked a hotel on the Nyhavn because it looked just the kind of place you're describing; sadly, after we'd booked it closed for repairs and we were relocated to the 5-star Palace Hotel in the Town Hall Square - and because it was our silver wedding anniversary they gave us a suite overlooking the square with the Lyr Players statue right outside our window. Tough, eh? Copenhagen's a small city, easy to get around and rarely crowded. I think I'd look in the Nyhavn area if I were to go again.

We really enjoyed the Guldsmeden Carlton Hotel. Close walk into the centre/Tivoli and just down the road from a very nice little Vietnamese restaurant.
