A couple of weeks ago I tripped over fresh air in the kitchen and ended up on the floor after bashing my knee against the cooker on the way down. Luckily no broken bones but the knee swelled up like a balloon. I did the R.I.C.E. trick and by the next day most of the swelling had gone down and the bruising was developing nicely! Two weeks later and the bruising has moved down the shin and the back of the calf. I’m left with a really sore/tender shin bone & extremely sore area just below the kneecap, which is still slightly enlarged. Should I seek medical help?? The GP surgery is only doing e-consults with the nurse practitioner - would this be the way to go??? I should had I’ve previously had several ops on the area over the last 40 odd years so the area is used to being bashed about!!

Nothing is broken, and the healing is progressing as expected. I would continue as you are for a little longer. Take painkillers if needed, but I'm not sure what else they will do, with no breaks and no wounds. Try RICE for another week or so.
