Just havnt had it yet.
Genuinely a bit worried about the long term affects of an experimental gene therapy that isnt even a vax in any sense of the word?
Leaving aside people dying from blood clots or whatever, why would I want to pump something into my body thats untested long-term?

Nailit, If you’re vaccinated and contract Covid you’re less likely to be seriously ill or die. Chance it or don't. That’s the bottom line. Your choice.

PP, I wouldn’t call Newham a ‘terrible slum’, but it is an area of very high immigration and I think it’s true to say that such areas are notoriously slow to take up the vaccine.
If you opt out of the vaccine personally I think you have a death wish. There is a killer virus sweeping the globe and whilst not everyone gets seriously ill from Covid-19, the vaccine seriously reduces your chances of getting sick if you do catch it.

If you catch Covid-19 and become seriously ill, will you wish you'd had the vaccine? You betcha!

At least do yourself a favour and get some high strength Vitamin D down you. At least 2,000IU daily and take it with your main meal. You won't absorb it if you take it with bran flakes and skimmed milk.
// I wouldn’t call Newham a ‘terrible slum’, .....an area of very high immigration and ..... areas are notoriously slow to take up the vaccine.//

and if we look at the data again rather than approach with a blank fresh mind: we see vaccine uptake is low in low socio-economic areas ( = slums). Alderley Edge and Hale Barns ( old and rich) have rates above 90%

and yes the statisticians say the two (low economic status and immigrant) are correlated and therefore not independent - but golly that is a bit technical for a sunday and on AB !
PP, It is NOT a slum - but perhaps that fact - and it is a fact - is a bit too technical for you at any time.

how do you feel about allowing an untested virus into your body and not even knowing it's happening? At least having a vaccine allows you to exercise your power of choice. If you choose not to, you put yourself at the mercy of any infected and unvaccinated person you bump into in Fortnum and Mason.
Or indeed on the Claptrap Omnibus.
I could have predicted that the OP would be a Tin Hatter! PMSL!
LadyCG is right about the vitamin D...but triple or quadruple the amount if you don't get much sun. It will take several months for your levels to get high enough.
Whatever you do nailit...whether you get a vaccine, or not. Wear a mask, or not...remember it's not just for you, but for everyone around you.
If you choose not to, you put yourself at the mercy of any infected and doubly vaccinated person you bump into.
It has to be your choice Nailit.
Pity we can’t put the vaccine into a sugar lump. How many would change their minds :-)
Haha...I would have then NOT had it.
My life isn't that important to me any more, but other people's are to them. Bound by do as thou will and it harm none my choice had to be accept the vaccine, socially distance and wear a mask. I did it because it was the responsible thing to do.
I don't get the difference between being an anti vaxxer and not taking the vax because you believe its untested and may give you all sorts of side effects. It's that anti vax?
Just stop dithering about & get the vaccine. With the current level of infection you're almost bound to get the virus and it may well make you very ill or even kill you. With the level of infections we are currently seeing we would be in a worse position without vaccination than we were at this time last year. As it is we are getting hospital admissions and deaths an order of magnitude smaller.
I see your point and agree nailit …

I did end up having mine but was very wary.

I only had mine because im desp to see family (in South Africa) and cannot imagine being allowed to hop on a plane without the jabs.

///why would I want to pump something into my body thats untested long-term?////

Nailit, that is a reasonable concern when one considersthat at the outbreak of this pandemic, the scientists suggested that it may well be years before avaccine could be produced and within 10 months one arrived completely out of the blue.

Side effects such as blood clots and nerve disorders ARE a complication of vaccinations..........despite years of testing in some cases, but rare. Uncertainty was a reasonable response but the only show in town was and is vaccinations and test, trace and isolate.
I have been following all the arguments for and against Government recommendations and they have remained the same and regurgitated in various volumes by the same antagonists and protagonists.

Nailit, your concerns are valid, not scientifically but emotionally ,not the same as mine but I respect them.
Fab answer by sqad. One that is not judgemental and seems to be based on weighing up the pros n cons.
