For a few days now, very uncomfortable, very stiff and painful across my shoulder and up my neck. Is it arthritis? The muscles feel very sore. I have been taking Ibuprofen which helps but I don’t like to take any drugs all the time., is it something that will go on its own? No other aches or tingling down arm. Thanks all.

I don't think that anybody could hazard a guess on the diagnosis after such a short history but from your description it sounds muscular rather than arthritic due to unusual physical activity on your part e.g lifting, gardening etc.

Carry on with the Ibuprofen 400mgms each time and it should improve later in the week.

Thanks sqad! Will do. Could be from lifting grandchild … I do seem to have a weak spot in that shoulder, has given me gip before.
LOL......I've got a few "weak spots" as well.....-;)
Hey smurfchops - sorry you're in discomfort. Recently I had pain in a similar area. Mine began in the supracalvicular area and radiated up to the neck and across entire shoulder. Was quite debilitating. Took about 5 weeks. Keep taking that ibuprofen even though you prefer not to.

PS - I eventually worked out what has caused it - swinging my metal detector.

Did you find anything eve?? Was it worth the pain??
Oh yes - found an amazing 1666 token. (Simon Rolfe of Sarum) and lots of WWii bullet casings ! Worth the ache in the shoulder for sure. Been out quite a few times since but have been alternating my swinging arms to avoid a repetition of the pain (until I buy a harness)
