Fresh Start
5 Answers
I am looking to make a fresh start and am interested in a totally new place to live either in this country or abroad. I have been temping for a few months to help me decide but now i feel ready to move. I do have lots of friends here etc but they are all settled and i really would like to experience somewhere different. Have travelled before but its finding the job/lodgings thats worrying me. Which one first? or shall i just pack up n go? Are there any people out there who contemplate the same and want some one to do it with? Im not wierd or anything it's just i have come out of a tough time and really feel a new start is best. My proffession is in care and i have seen a few live i jobs but im worried about being stuck alone and having to build a social life up from scratch. Would be easier to go with some one i think. This don't make no sense now!! I ve been thinking about joining the police or the army to escape but im not very political so would prob struggle . Im female and 27. Thanks in advance for any help.

Firstly, set yourself a list of things which need to be done to ensure you will be comfortable when there and a contingency in case things don't work out.
I would generally prioritise:
1. Country/Place
2. Job
3. Lodgings
4. Where will you stay if things don't work out?

Why not sign up for a course somewhere?! I am in the same situation as you, and I have decide to rent out my house and move to lovely Canterbury and do an MA. I have moved before without a job, and had a miserable time. If you are on a course, even part-time, it is easier to meet new people and make friends, as you are all in the same boat together. If you go to Canterbury I will see you there!!x
First you need to save money - it can be expensive to set yourself up abroad. Choose a location where there is a British community to fall back on. Also, learn as much of the language as you can before you go - this will help you to get jobs and to make friends. You dont need to be fluent - that will come easiest once you are there, but learn enough to be safe and to make basic conversation.
How about doing some aid work abroad? I am the same age as you but i'm rooted where I am because I have three children. I certainly would have travelled more if I hadnt become a mother at 20.
I was going to join the army before I fell in love, and all those plans were forgotten.
Before you make the big plunge of moving abroad you need to get a taster of what it will be like first, Try backpacking maybe working your way around europe etc, You will soon see if life over seas is for you or not. If you dont like you can come back and say well at least I tried!
What ever you decide good luck and I wish you well!

Sorry I forgot to add, if you are thinking of joining the army you have to get in there quick as they only accept people up to the age of 27 as the upper age limit of acceptance see this link below.
