Why Are We Still Being Asked To "Check In" To Venues

I deleted the app yesterday. Got asked to check in today, is that just the venue being a bit behind or are check ins still a legal requirements.

Yes they are. But they cannot discriminate on the basis of a "protected characteristic", one of which is disability. So if you have (say) asthma (which is classed as a disability), which makes it difficult or impossible to wear a face covering and you are denied entry for not wearing one, the venue is acting illegally.
