Hi, I suffer from heart palpitations. My Mum and nan both suffer from anxiety and palpitations also. But I wondered if anyone knew anything that would help to ease them? I have already cut Caffiene out of my diet and I do not smoke either. I want to avoid having to take Beater Blockers to control them. My other concern is my husband and I want to start trying for a baby soon, but we are concerned what affect the pregnancy will have on my heart. Has anyone else been through this? Any help appreciated

Hi, poor you! I used to have these and they were really upsetting. As far as I know they don't actually have a particularly serious effect on the heart, but you should check this out with your doc before you get pregnant so he/she can check. I used Bach Rescue Remedy and also cut out very sugary foods and did more exercise and they went away eventually. Stressing about them makes it worse obviously! Once I knew my heart was ok after getting it checked out, I relaxed about it a bit and it got better. Good luck x

Hiya,

Thanks for your answer. I find excercising very difficult. I am quite fit anyway and not overweight. But the only excercise I can do to keep me in shape is power walking. Which luckily I love. So this helps, I dont eat very sugary foods anyway, and have a better than average healthy diet. My GP is aware of my palpitations, but when I spok to him I was moving and getting married and so he put it down to stress. I think stress is a massive contribution to the problem, I am in the process of changing from my civil servant job, to being co-owner of a new pre-school with my mum and her business partner. I am more excited than nervous. I suppose to some extent I am anxious about a possible impending first pregnancy, but nothing that should put any extra pressure on my heart. I will defintely give the bach remedy a try, anything is better than Beater Blockers. I am sure it's not serious and that mine is caused mainly by stress. Libby1980, can I ask if you have children? and if so, how were your pregnancies? Thanks
