//Leeds City Council has launched an educational research project into tea produced in Yorkshire and Yorkshire parkin cakes over links to colonialism and the slave trade.//
If kids have so many history periods a week then that's what they have. Is it right that the history they are taught should be determined by the views of ABers? I don't think anybody is suggesting that they should have extra history lessons at the expense of other subjects, just to inculcate them with 'unpatriotic' ideas. Why do some people get so upset about whether baddies in the past had black or white skins?
Not sure why that's directed at me. And isn't the use of 'baddies' a little reductive?
Hopefully with a rounded education of Britain's imperial past, kids of today won't see history as simply a collection of goodies and baddies - they'll see history for what it is, shades of grey.
