Vaccine Passports
37 Answers
I'm cutting & pasting in a letter from this morning's Telegraph on vaccine passports:
[i] 'It is not that much of a jump to a totalitarian regime'
@Carolyn Bates:
"I never in my wildest dreams could have imagined we are on the brink of this; it is not that much of a jump to a totalitarian regime and mandatory vaccination.
"If we do not rise up against this now, we will only have ourselves to blame. That a Conservative prime minister and Government could even consider what it looks like they will now do, is shocking.
"I have already written to my MP and advised him that unless he makes a stand for his constituents, he can forget about receiving my vote again.
"For forty two years I have voted Conservative and to see what is now going on is terrifying." [i]
Do you think vaccine passports would lead towards a totalitarian regime ?

But we’re not discussing travelling abroad. As far as I know the letter written to the Telegraph was referring to requiring a health certificate to go about your business (and pleasure) in this country. In any case, the vaccinations you mention are not a requirement. They are advisory. The only requirement I have known of before now is for Yellow Fever (for a limited number of countries).
//Vaccines for children to enter school have also been a requirement.//
No vaccinations are required to attend school in the UK. Which demonstrates my point quite well. Attending school is mandatory (leaving aside “home schooling”). If having a Covid jab was a requirement to attend school it would, de facto, make vaccination mandatory and mandatory medical treatment is unlawful in the UK. Similarly if all employers insisted on vaccination it would effectively make vaccination mandatory to go to work. Where the “grey area” lies (and where M’Learned Friends would step in over the next few years) is where only some employers insisted on it. This would rule out the unvaccinated from taking certain jobs, thus consigning them to jobs they may not wish to do. With the exception of a few occupations such as those in healthcare, that would almost certainly be ruled unlawful.
//Everybody in Germany has a passbook in which all vaccines are registered;//
I’ve got one of those, Khandro. But I don’t have to produce it to go to the pub or get into my office.
//What do we expect them to look like? Eg will they resemble a 10yr passport or the temporary 1 yr one?//
“Passport” is the wrong word. It is a certificate to show you have undergone a specific medical procedure. And as I suggested in another post, today it’s Covid. Come the winter it will be ‘flu. Then MMR will be added to the system then…who knows? If you think this is fanciful, cast your mind back eighteen months and ask yourself how fanciful it was to imagine a UK government being able to dictate who you allowed into your house, where you went and who you went with. That’s what’s been done and senior politicians are on record as being amazed at what they got away with.
If they want everybody to have a Covid vaccination they need the courage of their convictions and make it mandatory, via Parliament. If that fails it should not become mandatory by stealth in the way I’ve described.

Can't get my head round all the calls for VP, the truth of the matter is all it will really show is that you decided to have the vaccine, to hopefully protect yourself from being very ill or even dying.
There is still to this day no solid proof that vaccinated or not, you can't still pass it on. I don't believe covid is our main problem at the moment. Our main problem is the thousands of self made experts popping up everywhere all with their different scenarios. I've just seen one written report, ( of a so called expert) claiming that covid can pass through the walls of an hotel into your room, its just getting all very silly, and this is without the editors of papers sitting there wondering what they can use for an headline the next day to hopefully grab the nations interest. Daytime TV is awash with further experts, Jeremy Vine and his panel of daily experts blowing everything up all out of content, he himself dances around his desk like John Snow giving election results with his stupid covid results, and that's just one channel trying to keep you fixated. We have to many cooks in the kitchen all trying to make a name for
themselves. Take the vaccine if you want to, were a mask if you want to, other than that mind your own business and get on with your life for gods sake.No one should ever be forced to have any vaccine.
