tongue piercing

hello everyone
bin thinking alot about this and decided why not im old enough and want it, i no the risks and have spoke 2 a piercer about how much it will hur and cost , and it doesnt sound that bad. i know sum of you guys must have had it done or know people who have can u tell me the good and bad experiences with it, my mums going on about how she doesnt like it but will let me have it, but shes just worried about the health risks and things info and personal experiences please

Had it done for years now, no problems. I have changed the balls on the bar for plastic ones just in case of damaging my teeth. Piercing itself didnt really hurt, was over quickly. I have just had my upper lip pierced on Saturday (madonna/monroe piercing) and that hurt alot more!!

my friend had that pierced said it hurt alot as well hope its ok n heals alrite thanx for the info its kind of made my mum feel abit better haha still getting it :D

Just make sure when the swelling subsides, you change to a shorter bar. The piercer should tell you this anyway, and a good one will offer to change it for free. Good luck, and dont worry about it you will soon be the proud owner of a funky tongue piercing!!

Go for it, I had mine done and didn't even realise it was pierced until the piercer told me, no pain only the discomfort of having my tongue pulled out further than it had ever been out before, and I did crack a tooth on it whilst eating a kebab a couple weeks later.

The secret is don't play around with it!!

sorry to be the bearer of bad news... but my cousin nearly suffocated on hers as it swelled up so bad....

just take ibruprofen (reduces the swelling) if it gets uncomfortable..

and if your sqweemish ask not to be put infront of a mirror since my mate was and she saw the middle bit being pulled out...

Hey go fot it! I got mine done around a year ago and i have a phobia of needles!I waited outside for about half hour before just going for it! The actual piercing of it doesnt hurt its the week after where its very numb on the first day but when this wears off it just throbs and whilst everyone was tucking into my fave foods i was finding it difficult as when your not used to it you think your going to swallow it heh! But you get used to it after a week! and talk like a fool for a day!but it was well worth it! I have got my septum, lip, tongue, 10mm tunnels in first holes of ears and 3mm tunnels in 2nd holes and id say it hurt least out of all these piercings! Though one pointer i will say is to possibly when its healed change to plastic balls (i havent) but i have chipped a back tooth whilst eating and my mate has woken me up many a time in the night saying i was crunching down on the tongue bar in my sleep :s but yep i say go for it! I couldnt take mine out now as id feel lost without it!

hi pompomfairy, i got mine done about 2 months ago, and have had no problems, i didnt find that it hurt - though i have to say that when i went back to the piercer to get the bar changed it hurt like hell!!
Just make sure you go to a nice clean piercing place and should be no problems :-)
to clean it swish some warm salt water in your mouth after everything you eat and 1st thing on a morning and last thing at night. - the swelling on mine went down after about 3 or 4 days. for these days i found i could only eat ice cream & mash potato!
If i were you id see if the piercer will change the bar for you when its healed (to a shorted one - this is probably after about a week), because i have found that even just putting the ball on the top is very very tricky!!

The only bad thing ive come across with mine is that sometimes ill bite down really hard on it when im eating - and that hurts!!

just go for it!! :-)

thanx guys im even more determined 2 get it now :D and thanx for saying it doesnt hurt i talked 2 the guy that does all my piercings and he says it hurts less than ur lip soo wahey lol im going 4 it. i dont mind talking like a fool i usually do anyway hopefully i will b able 2 talk 4 work on a sunday getting it dun next wednesday when i get payed :D.
and my mate george has already asked if i will try it out on him just kissing him u dirty minded people lol :D . i reli love u guys on here ur always there with the answers i need thanx alot guys Jenni xxx

you'll have to post back on wednesday to say how it went!
you might not be able to talk for the first few days, but you should be fine for sunday, so dont worry. - oh and just to let you know your tongue might go a bit purple and look bruised....well mine went like that anyways! (just for the first day i think).

haha aslong as it doesnt drop off i dont care n oo dear god its no solid food 4 ages thats the best sort of food :). ill let u no if i chicken out lol i got my best mate ollie cumin with me im scared of needles not about teh whole tongue being pierced its needles near my face ARGH!!! i think i will cripple him hehe
