Need To Isolate

Her indoors is having a medical procedure .

She has to have a covid swab and has been told that she has to isolate from the date of the swab untill the date of the procedure .

We haven't needed to do any isolation before

Does her need to isolate means she can't come into.contact with myself and my daughter who all live in the same household ?

No. It's isolating from people outside the household. If I were you and your daughter though I'd stick as much as I can to the restrictions.

To greatly reduce the chance of her contracting the virus and taking it into the hospital.

Unless otherwise informed, it is usually expected for anyone living in the same household to self-isolate.

She will isolate .

However I'm just wondering about all the many / numerous hospital staff , visitors etc , who obviously need to go into the hospital , who could be bringing the virus into the hospital

This was my experience just over a week ago. I had a Covid test on the Friday and had to self-isolate over the weekend before an endoscopy on the Monday. We asked about my husband and we were told that we shouldn't kiss, cuddle or touch hands and that was the only advice we were given

Another reason d of thought is so that the procedure dosnt have to be cancelled at the last minute because t turns out the patient has covid

Recently been in this position 3 times with Mr U, they told him that they wanted both of us to self isolate. If that wasn't possible for any reason, we would need to socially distance within the property until the morning I took him in.

How , would they know unless another swab/ test is taken on the day of the procedure?

That’s why she’s been asked/told to isolate.
Visiting is very much reduced, and hospital staff have to go to work don’t they? I’m sure they’re as keen as anyone not to spread the virus so will do what is required of them so they can continue to go to work.
We all do what we can to help reduce the spread.
