Not much craic at all now, Bobbi. Years ago you could start a thread and have a lot of wandering banter. A few may not have liked it but that was CB and innocent enough and the few could be ignored. You'd post something you'd done/ seen/ been to and others would join in with their experiences. It was good, lighthearted fun. Then with the demise of SAB we had an influx...

oh the good old days bobbi !
not sure who SAB is, but what the hell the good times rolled ! - we laughed - we had fun !
and then slowly - people lost their sense of humour
and slowly and imperceptibly took the gilt off the gingerbread,
making veiled but carefully understated threats
did you notice as you skimmed thro the posts?
why do you copy and paste things.....
you may be mistaken for a stalker
and other rhetorical questions
gut busters all of them - chilling it was....
how's this for a one-liner
Little Kabul, some midland city. four weeks hence
Man chases fella down street, wiv knife or something
" You try to post letter into one of my wives! She not blue letter box you know!"
ter daaah !
been waiting all day to say that to someone

the time when Mr Em was a little lad, born 1939 the year war broke out, times were difficult and eggs hard to come by. But he had one for his tea, and then the sirens went off, told by his dad to run to the garden anderson shelter, he slipped and fell on the egg, got up with egg running down his front, cried for his poor egg, i don't know why i found this funny, but when he told me i couldn't help but laugh.
Many moons ago, my grandfather died less than a year after his wife. It is important to point out at this point my grandmother was not a nice woman who had long before her demise lost any spark of affection for her husband. A young WPC who came to the house attempted to comfort my mother with the words " perhaps she was calling him". I did not then have the normal filters on what I said, I don't think " the only thing she would have called him was bleep bleep bleeeeeeeep for joining her so soon! ".
Same time as this a family friend brought in mugs of tea. Have aforementioned police officer mug with ventriloquist dummy that was popular at the time on it. The slogan being "I love Nookie". The more experience officer with her nearly choked on his tea, and we knew that would be round The station as soon as they got back.
Seriously though.... I find there is a lot of animosity on here that spoils good threads when they do start, the restrictions now placed on adult humour of even the carry on film levels in case it affects the rare younger visitor, bearing in mind that the double entendre is the backbone of British humour since the time of Chaucer and some not knowing the difference between banter and harassment it isn't a tempting to get involved.
