The Doric .
We're losin oor Doric and spicken pan loaf.
Am scunnert o hearin folk speak like a toff.
Yer gan for yer denner yer nae gan for lunch.
And for ony sake ferget aboot brunch.

Oor mither tongue will be left in the dark .
Yer vest and shirt should be semit and sark.
Ye hid yer denner but dinna say nice .
Back in the day, braw wi'd suffice .
On the Buckie holiday it wi'd be Aiberdeen.
And if that wis yesterday it would have been the stree'n.

We're jock thampsons bairns brocht up ah the same.
Yer hoose not your house ,yer hoose wis yer hame.
Ye cwi'd be smorrin wi the cahl and a snottery beak.
kept aff fae the school ye wisna ill ,ye wis seek.
Happit up on the cooch, a mack shift bed .
Watch with mother and some Lucazade .

Ye dinna need tae know ye only need tae ken.
And if yer gan throo the hoose jist go ben.
And its nae up the attic, dinna be daft.
We kept the xmas tree up the laft.
A heppney fae mam for a lucky bag .
Or the soda fountain for a singel fag.
There seems tae be many, but i mine it as mony.
If its a beautiful baby , then let it be bonnie.

The Local farms was kent as ferms
And the quines and loons kent as bairns.
Twi's back in the day and we played on the ferm.
fa'n doors we're left open and we came tae nae herm
Oor mither tongue will disappear.
Keep it tae lug and nae tae ear.
dicht yer erse and pull the chain .
For this is the Doric and this is yer hame.

My Dia, used to have a saying’he/she has the mouth the size of the *** end of a Buckie drifter’
I love that saying and so many more words and sayings that I grew up with.
