what is the real reason for these supply issues i see KFC Nandos have had chicken problems cluck cluck and now mcdonalds has ran out of milkshake i thought all of this was due to the pingdmic damn NHS app piece of rubbish what is the real reason for this supply issue is it the lorry drivers in self isolation or is it brexit supply issues or a mix of both i know for a fact the lorry driver problem is real i have family who work in that field

Combination of both.

The pingdemic has led to labour shortages at farms and processing factories in the UK.

Normally that would be covered by more imports. But a shortage of drivers due to the UK’s new VISA restrictions has hampered imports meeting the shortfall in supply.

It's a combination of the pingdemic, driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) training and Brexit (probably in that order).

HGV drivers must have completed 35 hours of training and renew their licence every five years (every year for those over 65). The renewal has to be done by paper and mail, it cannot be done online. Some drivers have had difficulty completing their training and although an extension was provided for those who could not complete their training by August 31st 2020, that facility was removed. This has caused many to be unable to continue working.

oh that is very interesting newjudge i didnt think the license of lorry drivers would come into it and their qualifications i can tell you from personal knowledge a lot of agency lorry divers have very poor professional standards they dont carry the correct paperwork

Another factor is what's known as IR35.

The taxman has changed the way self employed and agency drivers are taxed, reducing their take home pay. Some of the foreign drivers will throw that into the calculation about where is best to ply their trade.
