Please Can You Help Identify This Tv Police Drama

Music teacher abducted while taking dog for walk in woods with young daughter and her friend. Man confesses to murder. Body found in sawmill owned by brother of man who confessed. He finds baseball bat convered in blood in guitar case of his young nephew who is a gifted musician and plays the guitar very loudly all the time.
I think it's a UK police drama but just can't remember which, and it's driving me mad!!

I hate that, Ken, splitting a six episode series up. So we are getting two this year and the rest sometime next year.

Hellywelly I knew I had watched the programme you described fairly recently. And I also knew I wouldn't sleep a wink until I remembered what it was.
I'm very relieved that DCI Sinead O'Connor's face came into my mind when I was going through the scenes in my memory.
From that it was Google who did the rest.

Obviously Covid has put one giant spanner inti the normal works, Barry, and they would have been just as well not airing any until they could do all 6 on a weekly basis. Those in charge obviously did not watch the recent series of Baptiste to se how not to do things :-/

And the fact Vera is about 80 in real life and the old Bill retire when they are 55 or younger (30 years service) doesn't help. Yes, I know Morse and Frost outstayed their police pension but still............is Vera really credible?

For a good TV Drama she is Leon, plenty of documentaries if you want realism.

Brenda Blethyn is 75, Leon. Cressida Dick is 60. This guy is a tad older :-)
