Oldies song 60s story

Im after a song poss from the 60s,its about a man who is in hospital,waiting for the birth of his son,but the doctor tells him that his son is very unwell after the birth,so he prays to have god take him instead of his son,he then feels unwell,and hears the doctor say...if only he knew his son was recovering.

It's called "The Deal", but I can't recall the artist. It's on the Kenny Everett worst records of all time album, from some years ago. I doubt that that will inspire confidence in you about the track.
