I believed this one off 60 minutes documentary was going to air on the BBC in August.
Does anyone have more information? It hasn't been aired and it is not yet on iPlayer

//he is far from being illiterate, and certainly does not need to 'learn to read'.//
Clearly as a man with poor literacy and dyslexia, who has previously said he struggles to read scripts, he thinks he does need to learn.
The intent is to promote a reading charity and inspire other to have the confidence to learn.
Cant see why you have to be so negative about it.

I remember an excellent BBC series back in the 70s about adult literacy featuring Bob Hoskins and the wonderful Patricia Hayes - On the Move.
I am not being negative about the series - anything that highlights the problems some adults have with basic literacy is good, but rather the fact that a reading age of 11 means Jay needs to 'learn to read' as the title suggests.
The Hobbit is a recommended book for 11 year olds but certainly needs a good level of literacy.
