I have a quantity of tiny tomatoes that I want to use up making soup. Someone suggested I roast them to remove the skins, any ideas please? Thankyou for any suggestions
Put them in a big bowl, cover with boiling water. As they are little leave only for 30 seconds then put in to a bowl of iced or very cold water.
The skins will come off easily but I do prefer the flavour of tomato soup when the tomatoes have been roasted.
Roast with a bit of sea salt, olive oil and pepper if you like it. The skins will fall off and the flavour of your soup will be fabulous ( send me some please lol!)
Is there a reason to skin them? I think the skins add flavour. But if you hate them on your teeth, then you need to do as advised. Do the seeds bother you?
I can't stand the skins, I peel all tomatoes even in salads. I don't mind the seeds so much, but I would sieve tomatoes if I was making a soup. Seeds in soup are not nice.
The tiny ones I roast with oil and salt. Then use a hand blender for soup and spaghetti sauce. Skins seem to disappear. I only take the skins off very big ones
