I have been using my laptop charger for five years. For the last few days, it was not working properly. Sometimes it charged my laptop and sometimes stopped. Yesterday, when I plugged in it. It started catching fire, then I suddenly switched off the plug and unplugged it. What can be the reason behind this? Do I need to buy a new one or can it be repaired?

As long as your laptop is still OK, you need to buy a new charger.
