The Dunn family whose 19 y old was flattened by an American Diplomat, have reached a civil settlement with the Driver. She was the one who fled back to America waving her diplomatic passport. ( OK passport that had a diplomatic doo dah in it)

I suppose they have arrived at the conclusion that criminal proceedings are a non starters and to go for the moolah.

Anyone know details ?

because they have accepted a settlement
which means by definition it is er settled - even on AB

and .... civil courts are for money
no getting away from that

and American courts are for mega-money - as other royal watcher are well aware...
They will never get a criminal trial so I guess this is their way of getting some sort of admission of guilt and therefore some closure.
Question Author
come on come on
you are slipping into AB speak

liability and not guilt - civil courts - guilt is for criminal courts

the original diplo doo dah - 1715 - the Russian Ambassady was indicted for theft and he HAD done it !
1708 after the first Diplomatic Privileges Act - the British Plenipotenitiary knelt in front of Peter the Great proffering a gold embossed copy of the act and treaty whilst he gazed at the ground.

Family on teevee - saying they are clearing up the civil side of things. The Dunn family giving it on tee vee criminal side goes forward....I really dont see how without immunity being waived

The Dunn family say she came forward completely unexpectedly and unbidden

and since it is unlikely to be ' haha you will never get me!"
it is more likely to be - - 'I am not a child of the queen of england, nor an ex President, I did it... I need to face it'

which I find incredible
They already have been thrown money by the Press no doubt for an 'all exclusive' at some point. I find the mother disturbing.
I have the utmost pity for Mrs Dunn and all the family.
How is the mother, "disturbing"?
Her manner is disturbing. I can't put my finger on it.

You 'pity' her family Ladybirder? Do you not mean you have sympathy for them? So, have I. I can't imagine the heartache they have gone through.
Young bikers die all the time - often because they don't ride "defensively". The American woman was hugely at fault but the lad should have been going at such a speed that he would have seen her in front of him in time to take some avoiding action.
I think the Dunns have prolonged their period of grieving unnecessarily. If the matter had gone to court here the woman would have got maybe a driving ban & a suspended sentence which they probably wouldn't have been happy about but would have had to accept.
Davebro I think the accident happened on the brow of a hill. The young lad had no time to take evasive action so please don't blame him.
If you're going over the brow of a hill - slow down. You should be able to stop within your seeing distance.

I think the legal process has skewed the process of grieving

( sort of queen victoria, I have just buried a mother ( another mother) of 95 who was bereaved 40 y ago and it has just been hell for everyone. )
Question Author
There are a few u tube viddies of young men killing themselves on bikes which I wont post
Carbis Bay is the famous one - filming car gets covered in blood

Henry clearly didnt ( kill himself ) as in flattened ( dread word!)

I am changing my mind about following a legal process 'helps'
