eyelid surgery
my bulldog has had eyelid surgery fot the second time today in 3 months. Poor thing had eyelashes growing on the inside of his eye first time and the vet said it was one of the worst cases she had seen. Now he has had to have a wedge section cut out as his remaining lashes were scratching his eye. Vet said next step would be an optimologist (spelling ?) Has anyone else been down this road as id love to hear from you

Entropian is when the eyelids curl inward therefore the eye lashes rub the surface of the eye (very unpleasant and can cause ulcers). We found that after the initial surgery of removing the wedge as you said there were no further problems unless the eyelashes grew back still rubbing the eye but this rarely happened.
Sadly this condition is hereditary and the breeders should be notified as they should not breed from the parents again (however some breeders do not take any notice of this and the poor dogs suffer, and responsible pedigree dog breeders get a bad name because of the irresponsible few). Also of course your dog should not be bred from as it can pass on the condition.
