National Trust In London/Surrey/Sussex

Just got a pair of National Trust vouchers from the Mail, but where to go? Where would you recommend in London, Surrey or Sussex for two oldies please?

Ham House in Richmond

Nymans, near Crawley, is a nice ramble; the house is largely a ruin but the gardens are nice. Petworth House is very good with lots of art, both paintings and statues, to see.

Just be aware that many of the NT properties are not fully open at present and many will close for the winter around the end of October. By "not fully open" I mean there may be restricted access, including one-way systems around a property, and some rooms may be closed completely. If there is no time pressure I would recommend you wait until spring when things might have eased a bit more.

Ightham Mote is wonderful, especially if you've read The Green Darkness by Anya Seton before visiting.
