mary and bob were patients in an asylum

1 day, they are walking in the grounds and bob falls in to the water. mary immediately jumps in after him- bringing him to the surface and back to the shore.

later, the director hears about Mary's good deed, and comes to see her in her room.

he says Marry, I have good news, and I have bad news. what do you want first?

Marry asks for the good news, and the director replies that because she saved bob, she is free and is allowed to leave. The director continues " However, I am afraid to say that bob, the man you saved, died a couple of hours ago."

Marry broke down and asked him, what?. what do you mean?. I just hung him out to dry!

It's an asylum Dave, so it probably means she literally hung him out to dry (on clothes line). Ha Ha!
