I had to get football/rugby boots for little Tigs as part of the uniform requirement. The ones I got were suitable for all grounds but his PE teacher has said that the requirement is for soft ground studded boots. Simple enough I know but little Tigs can't seem to grasp tying laces. I've tried teaching over the last few years, and so has his dad but he now refuses to try.
Today I went to Sports Direct and bought him slip on ones which were a size up as he has wide feet and has to were thick sports socks. Well he couldn't even put his foot in the opening as it was so tight. Even tried it with a shoe horn but still too tight so will need to take them back!
I've googled laceless football boots but all of them look so tight fitting and so expensive. Also, I need them before Tuesday which is his next PE lesson. Can anyone help?
FWIW Tiggs my youngest daughter, now in her 30's still can't tie shoe laces. She is Dyslexic and Dyspraxique and I would be going down to the school and telling them in no uncertain terms about little Tiggs difficulties, and also lay it on thick about struggling to pay for new ones. Schools need to be flexible on these things. For Funks Sake its junior football not the premier league.!
Tigger, have you tried stuffing the tight boots with newspaper really packed in tightly? That's what we used to do back in the day. The boots are then left for as long as possible before they are needed.
//Place wet newspaper into the shoes for more stretching power. Dampen a few sheets of newspaper, then ball them up and stuff them into the toe box of the shoe. Continue adding balls of wet newspaper until the shoe is full. As the paper dries, it will expand and harden, stretching out the shoe.//
Thanks Pixie but I need to get him to try before we buy. He's doing football or rugby in Tuesday so haven't got much time for deliveries, returns and reordering. Thank you for offering to help :o)
