The gift of being in two minds at the same time, an ability to say the most inappropriate thing, or the right thing only at the wrong time. A belief in his own abilities that though carefully hidden are meant to be obvious, and a personable demeanour that attracts admirers and willing supporters everywhere. Would you give him a job? (or the other one) I would rather consider giving the millions of nuclear scientists, ground breaking engineers and inventers, brain surgeons and technical innovators who are currently swarming to our aid, than that. At least I could have a laugh.

TTT,
I am a graphic designer - both print and digital (on-line).
About 5 years ago I was made redundant, then worked for myself , freelance. Unfortunately all my contacts all started to retire and I ran out of work. I got a job as a baker (while still freelancing graphic design). Covid killed that. Then the bakery I was in shut down, so I got transferred to another job (which is awful - hence my 1000 applications.).

benefits are not that easy to apply for, if it were then i wouldn't have spent ages on the 60 page one for a particular benefit, and even then i was turned down twice, all the while i had at least the help of a welfare rights officer, which most people don't have. I think some people believe that its a doddle when it's not.
Great answer buenchico. Two or 3 other points to add
1) vacancies can not be filled instantly.theres always a time lag and also successful candidates already have a job they move from so creating another vacancy down the line
2 )some are in a benefits trap and can be worse off with long travelling or only part time work
3) many jobs are part time or zero hours so won't feed a family
4) some jobs like fruit picking the brits can't hack it as it means 4am start grafting and bending all day
