Smart Metre Tariff And Obligation

Just had a email off BG. It states as part of the conditions of my tariff I signed up to . I MUST have a metre smart metre fitted. OR be put back on a different tariff. I went for the most beneficial tariff obviously when I signed up. Well before the news of energy shortages and small providers going under. Didn’t read all the T&Cs But who does. I guess you’ll say get and check the T&Cs Whats your views. Is it illegal to make you have or put into T&Cs that you have one fitted.

Is the email genuine ? I never get an email from BG and I'm with them.

Sorry Bob, I think you'll have to have a smart meter or switch tariffs - your choice. (I've had no problems at all with the smart meter fitted about 3 years ago.)

PS. If you get the SMETS2 meter it should be transferrable if you want to switch suppliers.
