honey fungus

Please help!!! My parents have a huge 'plague' of honey fungus in their garden this year which seems to be killing everything in its wake. what can be done about it? Dad has put paraffin on them but they are still about, we also don't want to contaminate the surrounding soil. any help would be fab, thank you!!
