Selling Stairlifts

Because of sad circumstances I would like to sell a brand new stairlift which was only used for under a week, but is no longer eligible under the 'free return' period. Do you know anyone who has actually sold back a stairlift for more than the derisory figures I have been offered online? (i.e. it cost approx £5000 in July this year, I have been offered £250.)

I had the same with Stannah when my mum could no longer use her stairlift after 3 months. I paid over £3000 but sold it back to them for about £300 this was in 2015. What they never mentioned when the salesman visited was that you can buy reconditioned ones, well they wouldn't would they?

Could you sell this privately? I do know a neighbour who sold the one from her mother's house.

Searching for 'sell stairlift' brings up lots of links to companies who say that they'll offer you a fair price but I've no idea about which of them might actually be worth a try. So I can do no more than provide you with one such link (simply because it's the first one that comes up)

Thanks to everyone for their replies. I have googled as suggested, also contacted the original supplier (who did not reply). The only reply I have had is the £250 offer. Will continue to try, but am not hopeful. But again, thanks.

I know nothing about stairlifts but I would have thought that a very large proportion of the initial cost was for installation. It strikes me that it could be a fairly lengthy process to install them and the electrical connections would also be difficult in some houses. Selling it back will also incur a dismantling charge even if the electrics are left in place, so I'm not surprised that there will be a large difference between buying and selling prices.

Maybe the original purchase price included installation, which I would imagine might be quite expensive.

Unfortunately, stairlifts are built to each house, so it may not be right for someone else.
I can only suggest, wherever you put it, make sure you give the dimensions.

I think it's just one of those things (like riser recliners) You pay a lot of money for them because they are really needed but when they are not needed anymore, the resale price drops dramatically.
