I love cats too and when I go to visit a friend, her cat always sits on my lap and I hate having to disturb it when it's time for me to go home.
The cartoon shows the nature of the cat and the fact that the composer feels he shouldn't really ask it to move.

I've slept on the floor, rather than move a cat off my knee, plenty of times. Many of my posts on AB are typed while standing up too, owing to the presence of a cat on my chair ;-)
Oh that's my neighbours cat for definite, she sits on my front doormat, won't budge and I can never get in, or she sits in front of cars parked outside, when drivers attempt to move on, she just stares them out like ' I was here first' and they have to drive around her
