Had the heating on yesterday but got too hot so turned it off.
Later on I realised I was still too hot and when I looked at the remote thermostat, it was on again.
I always turn the heating off when I go out which I did today, and when I came home, it was like a hot house.
Although it said off on it, the temperature was 24 degrees, so I've turned it off at the boiler.
At first I thought it must be on a timer, but I've never had it on a timer as I don't know how to do that.
Any ideas?

Really? Well please let me know if you find out why.
I was expecting someone to say it was me thinking I'd turned it off when I haven't. :-)
It's down to Brexit! :-)

I knew it!
Barsel, you say in your OP that you "turned it off". How did you turn it off? With the thermostat on the wall, or by some other means?
Question Author
By the thermostat which is usually on the wall, but the one I have is a remote so I can put it on my bedside table at night, then I don't have to get up to turn it on.
I decided to turn it off at the boiler before I went to bed and I noticed the pressure was right down, so I adjusted it and touch wood, it's been ok since.
Keep in touch if it doesn't go as you want it to.

Thanks Atheist, I have a monthly contract , so I can always call them out, but it's quite an old boiler, had it about 15 yrs , and so have been thinking of changing it, but it's so expensive to replace.
