Owen Paterson
The Tory MP Owen Paterson faces a 30-day suspension from the House of Commons for an “egregious” breach of lobbying rules, raising the possibility he could lose his seat if enough constituents trigger a byelection.
Parliamentary standards commissioner Kathryn Stone’s investigation, which was launched in October 2019, found Paterson had worked as a consultant to Randox, a clinical diagnostics company, since August 2015, and Lynn’s Country Foods, a processor and distributor of meat products, since December 2016.
She said he made three approaches to the Food Standards Agency relating to Randox and the testing of antibiotics in milk; seven approaches to the same agency relating to Lynn’s Country Foods; and four approaches to ministers at the Department for International Development relating to Randox and blood testing technology.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.One of the questions asked, and points raised, by Paterson was one highlighting the sale and distribution of certain food items. Namely cheese and ham, that had been unequivically linked with a carcagenic chemical that caused an agressive reaction if eaten in quantity. The company that discovered this was Randox. Can you guess where the companies making these "products" were based. Right again.
Just to give a little historical(rather than hysterical) content. The question was only raised after Paterson had no acknowledgement or response from the chief vetinary officer or various heads of Government Offices including the International Developement Minister(laughable title given his political view) Rory Stewart whom Paterson lobbed. Stewart is a paid up remainiac who has to deliver for the years of favours recieved and was not called to give "evidence".The wrong evidence was not perhaps what Kathryn Stone needed having stated that her mind was made up before any hearing was held.
I add this mainly for background fact.

There might be a backlash. If enough constituents think he has been too leniently treated, they can vote to have a by election.
// The Recall of MPs Act 2015 is an act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom that makes provision for constituents to be able to recall their Member of Parliament (MP) and call a by-election. It received royal assent on 26 March 2015 after being introduced on 11 September 2014. //

TOGO, “Stewart is a paid up remainiac who has to deliver for the years of favours recieved and was not called to give "evidence".The wrong evidence was not perhaps what Kathryn Stone needed having stated that her mind was made up before any hearing was held.”
Rory Stewart gave written evidence to the Commissioner, what additional evidence could or would he have given?
When and to whom, did Kathryn Stone state, “her mind was made up"
In the Committee on Standards' Report it states,
“199.Mr Paterson has also stated in correspondence to us: It is obvious that the Commissioner decided at an early stage that she believed The Guardian’s allegations, and this may explain why she did not seek witness evidence. The evidence I subsequently produced has been largely ignored, or wrongly disregarded as irrelevant.
And that:
I am driven to believe that the Commissioner determined my guilt long before her inquiry finished, and probably as early as November/December 2020."
Why then, did he state he "believed" rather than he had been telt by the Commissioner she had already made up her mind?

// Johnson is known to have been irked by the investigation into the funding of his 2019 Christmas holiday, which was one of a series into his financial affairs; they included one by the new ministerial standards watchdog, Lord Geidt, into the refurbishment of the Downing Street flat, an issue the Electoral Commission has subsequently been examining.
Geidt’s predecessor Sir Alex Allan resigned after the government disregarded his finding that the home secretary, Priti Patel, had breached the ministerial code over bullying allegations. //
There is a pattern developing. Find a Conservative MP culpable, and you are quickly out of a job.

"parliamentary standards" seems to be someething of an oxymoron.
ymb is way over the top saying they're all at it: they aren't. But if he's worried about impartiality, what does he think of the prime minister having sole charge of the ministerial code - which is how Priti Patel gets away with anything she likes? (And indeed, how Boris himself does.)

Paterson denies any wrong doing as rhere was no pecuniary advantage.

Indeed. And as become apparent his lobbying on behalf of Randox resulted in the company getting a half billion pound contract without any tendering advertising or open contest resulted in a huge amount of taxpayers money going to Paterson’s chums, then you have to conclude the system-is rotten and corrupt.
