Take Care Of Yourself

Talking about love, luv being said. I can't understand people saying to you when you are quite ill and live on your own "Take care of yourself". How can I - I;m bloody dying.

I'm reminded of the nurse who asked me, upon my arrival at the hospital for a chemotherapy session, "Are you well?".

My reply was the obvious one: "If I was well, I wouldn't be here!"

...or the Nurse who, when I was rushed in, picked up the phone to request help as she had a lady with no pulse.

She seemed surprised when I yelled 'I've not died yet'.

funny things do be said - my lovely friend who died last May - always said when she was going home after staying with me for the weekend. Well, take care of yourself Luv LOL. True - I coulda strangled her.

Recall very vividly when I was shot in the leg and I was resting on the settee, my mother came in and was putting on her coat and leaving me - where are you going mother, ach love I can't stand looking at you in pain, so I'm away out for a couple oul messages, no, she wasn't, she was going to the pub for a couple oul vodkas.

When people say to me 'take care now' I have to stop myself saying ' well thanks for that, cos I had booked a bungee jump over the Cheddar Gorge for saturday but might cancel it now'

Every time I leave my friends house she always says, 'be careful' and I always feel like I'm scared to walk in case I trip!

that happens to me too Barsel only when I was in America and my friend and I were crossing over the road avoiding the Yellow Cabs - I am known for falling excessively over the years. I said to friend "mind you don't fall", and I away I went on my mouth and nose.

When my dad was dying and I was leaving to come home and wouldn't see him for another week I would always say 'take care of yourself' and he would laugh and say 'I will try but you know these wheel chairs'
Later when he couldn't talk he would chuckle and grimace at me - its just something people say - nothing to get hung up over.

Yes, I say it sometimes if someone isn't well. Just meaning, take it easy, really.
