If you buy a new fridge freezer ,apart from cleaning it out, does it have to "stand" for so many hours before you use it ?

Yes they do, I think its something to do with the gas settling or something, not sure why, but it is correct.

Ratter is correct - it is indeed for the gas to settle, and the delivery men who delivered the fridge to you should have really explained that to you.

Thank you both. It's not being delivered until Monday, but something was in my head about not being able to use it straight away, but I didn't know the reason. Thanks again.

INFHY - goofy, work that one out !
yeh you're right we just got a new one last week and we wanted to store it out in our back hut - was an old garage - now a very large shed - but the instructions said it couldn't be stored inan outside area like a garage so it's had to be moved into our extension - much better idea as it's next to dining area and save's trawling way through to the kitchen now
